Curry Puffs

Few weeks ago I made these 'Curry Puffs', there were 2 version (i.e fried version and baked version). Can you notice the different of these 2 types? Just look at the pic ture above and the bottom one to see how's the look. The fried version one was more crispy but a little oily and the baked version is slightly less crispy but not oily. But both taste good as well.

Dumpling Festival (端午节)

This year, my mum made only a small amount of dumpling. the above is the dumpling she made. She stir-fry the glutinuous rice before she wrap it with other ingredients. This make the dumpling more fragrant. Inside the dumpling she put mushroom, chic wing, hotate, chestnuts,
dried oyster..... Though there're no beans but the taste still good. :)

Rich Moist Choc Cake II

Roasted Duck (Pei Pa Ngap)

Last time i went to Penang and I went to this shop at Kulim. The famous 'Pei Pa Ngap (roasted duck, which they won prize before. When you reached this shop they'll ask for your order. The first thing they'll ask whether you want to order for rice or noodles to go with the roasted duck. There are 2 stalls and the husband and wife run each stall.

These were what we ordered. The famous 'Pei Pa Ngap' and they free the spicy and sour mustard vege. The duck were so good, the crispinessof the skin and the juiciness of the meat really good and the sauce they given make the duck more flavour.

We didn't order rice, we opt for the noodles. The noodle's brooth taste quite good though the soup was not that clear, the noodle was springy and smooth and they put some meat, mushroom, and the deep fry fish paste. The taste was so good with all the ingredients and it're match with the duck.

Lok Lok and Ikan Bakar

I went to Kulim and had these.....

'Sotong Bakar'
'Bendi Bakar'

'Ikan Pari Bakar'

I had these kind of food at a chinese restaurant which they had other foods as well. Actually we want to order fried noodles as they also well known for that. The taste of the food here is ok was fairly ok but quite oily. Before we came here we went to Chai Leng Park to eat 'Lok Lok'. Make sure you are early if not all the sauce and the boiling water are used by other people before you do.

This is the sauce that provided. Peanut Sauce, Sambal Belacan, Chili blended with Lime and Sweet Sauce too. (clockwise)

This is the the hotate. They're really big and juicy.

These were the big and fresh octopus. It was so good.

P/S : Taste are based on own preference

i-Dragon Penang

Last week i went to Penang, when i enter Queensbaymall from the parking I saw this i-Dragon full of people and all queing to dine there.

So I decided to take dinner there after shopping.

This is what i can see at the front of the restaurant before i enter, i.e open kitchen concept.

And this is the 'Xiao Long Bao' before steam.

The Menu

This is what I can see when i dine there. The Penang Bridge.

When we just sat down, the waitress come and take the order. This is the list of the food we ordered.

First, the well-known 'Xiao Long Bao' are served. It served with the ginger and they poured the vinegar in front of us. The "Xiao Long Bao' tasted so good, the brooth so 'sweet' and the meat is so good. Compare to Din Tai Fung Penang, this is so far better.

Second, the 'Lai Wong Bao'/ Custard Bao is served. We don't like this bao coz the custard in the bao were quite watery and it tasted too sweet to our liking and some powder taste too. Compare to Din Tai Fung, Din Tai Fung is better.

While always drinking juices or other tea, we order this Double Boil Pear and almond. The sweetness of this drink was not too sweet and we like it and the taste was so good.

This is the Radish Pastry. The pastry was good but the radish in it quite dry but overall is ok.

Lastly the Pork Rib La Mien was served. The taste of the La Mien is quite good, the brooth just ok and the pork rib got the curry powder taste and nothing then.

We also get few boxes of Xiao Long Bao for take away.
